Dave Moynagh

Dave started brewing all grain beer about 4 years ago and like many developed a mild addiction for the hobby.

He is one of the organizers of the SOBA National Home Brew Competition and is vice president of the Auckland Guild of Brewers and Winemakers.

In 2017 with the help of Gordon Strong he launched the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) in NZ with a study course and an exam in Auckland. In 2018 he is working with groups in other regions to help them run similar programs, and will be running multiple BJCP tasting exams in 2018 to help develop the home brew judging community in NZ.

With a love of technology, science and tinkering as well as being a living example of “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” he is also involved with brewery automation and particularly likes to look at how commercial practices and systems can be scaled down to a home brew level. His wife has given up all hope of being able to park a car in the garage again.
