Lead Brewer, Sawmill Brewery
Scott began moonlighting in brewing while completing his qualification in winemaking in Christchurch. A stint of education and hard work at Wigram Brewing Co saw his interest in brewing take off and become a fully fledged hobby in homebrewing. After finishing study, he realised that brewing at Wigram had been the most satisfying and enjoyable job he’d had. That, and the sheer amount of brewing literature he read in spare time lead to his realisation that this was the career for him.
This started in earnest in 2013 with him being taken on as a packaging brewer at Good George in Hamilton where he had a hand in many parts of the brewery, eventually working with recipe development and quick sour beers. After two and a half years, he made the move to the winterless north and began work at Sawmill Brewery, helping with the setting up and dialling in of the new brewery. Currently still at Sawmill as the lead brewer, he spends much of his time at work brewing and formulating recipes.Back to speakers
